It's All About PerspectiveTherefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hm, Questions

Alright business majors (or those in the business world)...what do you like about business? What do you dislike? What skills (academic, social, etc.) are needed for an MBA? Do you like your job in the business world? Any advice, questions, comments to think on?

Crossroads

I miss Crossroads Ministry, but I love JH ministry and am thankful to have a great ministry to miss.
But, did I mention I miss Crossroads?

hahaha...

Stories from my class might trickle into my xanga now and then since another school year is in full swing. I had my students work on science vocab activities for HW and one of my students choose to do a top 10 David Letterman style assignment...and it made me laugh...

We're studying earth's systems and processes (scientific method, rock cycle, soil, erosion, weathering, etc)...
So here it goes (I've capitalized all the vocab words from the unit):

Top Ten Reasons Why I Would Never Be A Scientist:
10. Why would I want to touch SOIL (aka - poop!)?!
(Ok, so we talked about what makes soil fertile...)
9. I would rather watch paint dry than wait for a ROCK to complete its CYCLE.
8. The only HEAT in my life would come from my Bunsen burner.
7. I could never be as rugged as the TOPOGRAPHY.
6. WEATHERING Schemethering...
5. I'd be the only one on the BEACH in a lab coat.
4. SCIENCE equals goggles, googles equals nerd!
3. MAP? How about a nap?
2. Talk about the EROSION of my social life!
1. I could never get a DATA on Friday night.

Pretty clever, eh?

It's All Because of Jesus I'm Alive...

Have you heard this new song by Casting Crowns? Wow...I was singing this chorus loud and clear in my car on the way home from junior high staff meeting tonight and, lo and behold, God sovereignly spared me from getting in a potentially serious car wreck. It happened right in front of my car and I was thinking as I watched this manic driver swerve around my car, hit the vechicle beside me, and get the front of his car run over by an 18-wheeler...He's gonna hit me. He's gonna hit me. And sure enough...he didn't! God totally spared me as this car went in and out of my lane directly in front of me...And as I traveled down the 5 Freeway...and came to a complete stop...no one hit me, but I witness a car crash like I've never seen before...

It's all because of Jesus I'm alive...spiritually and physically. I'm thankful for God's protection and am keenly aware like never before of his sovereignty over every molecule in the universe...

Back to the Races

Well, everything in life is speeding up! Yesterday was a day of working in my classroom, buying a new Honda CR-V, and celebrating my parent's 36th wedding anniversary. Later today, I'll drive up to Nor Cal to be in a friend's wedding and will make it back on Sunday to jump into meetings come Monday and Tuesday morning and then the school year begins! One of the items listed for the meeting says: "Manuals, schedules, accreditation, and other annoying things." Haha. I'm sure this is accurate too...

Even though life is starting to get a bit busy, I have had opportunity to make 2 treks out to see the sunset at the beach in the past 3 nights and to observe an incredible meteor shower on Sunday night. God is a magnificent Creator!

Life is never dull!
